In this interactive and participatory workshop, Kimberly Parker will educate audience members on issues that affect people with hearing loss and their family members. Utilizing powerful images, compelling stories and humor, Kimberly will share her personal journey making the transition from hearing, to deaf to hearing electronically with cochlear implants. During a “working lunch,” you will get to experience for 1 hour what it’s like to have a hearing loss. Kimberly will also share communication strategies and resources and challenge you to think about what you want to commit to "for yourself" moving forward.

Kimberly Parker has a Bachelor of Arts in Theater Arts from Boise State University and graduated from the Peer Mentor Program at Gallaudet University. She was diagnosed with a severe to profound hearing loss at the age of 22, while in college. Kimberly wrote Lost in Sound: A One Woman Play; to raise awareness about hearing loss a silent epidemic affecting over 48 million Americans. In her play, she depicts more than eight characters telling her hearing loss journey from different perspectives. Lost in Sound debuted at Seattle’s Town Hall in 2015. Her performance was professionally filmed and edited and her DVD is available for purchase on Amazon.
